Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Exterior and Interior Overview

When looking at the exterior of the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid, most people see a middle sized hybrid version of the popular RX 350 SUV. Of course this makes sense because it basically is the RX 350 SUV with a different engine. What you find on the outside of the 350 you find on the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid. The Lexus RX 400h Hybrid is just more fuel-efficient with its dual electric motors in addition to the gasoline one.
Both vehicles are elegantly styled, and share the same dimensions. There are a couple of differences, like the front grills and round fog lights. The tail lights are different, and the outside paint job comes in a larger variety of colors which are brushed and includes aluminum interior accents instead of the wood trim that is reminiscent of the regular SUV version. The 2006 was noticeably different in that it had wood trim that was called Bird’s Eye Maple.
As mentioned before, the 2008 edition includes changes to the exterior such as chrome door handles, revised front grille, and rear spoiler. And don’t forget the new 18 inch wheels. Is it enough to attract new customers? Yup. This vehicle is sleek, aerodynamic with a raked windshield and sloping roofline. The whole vehicle has been put together seamlessly and it’s assuredly one of the best assembly jobs Toyota has done in a long time.
People who like the outside will love the inside and it’s pretty natural to expect only top quality in the cabin. It’s spacious and the buyers love it. The cabin can seat five and looks entirely different from the standard RX 350. It makes a statement, claiming its own identity in the SUV world. The driver’s and passenger’s front seats are well-padded – cushy comes to mind – and everything is well in the driver’s reach along the front console. The gauges are easy to read and the wood trim tops it all off. And there is a touch screen information display that gives the driver immediate access to amount of gasoline left, how much charge is in the battery, oil life, tire pressure, and more. This kind of information has become fairly standard on all SUV’s, hybrids or not.
The rear seats are just as cushy with plenty of headroom and legroom for taller passengers. There is nothing worse than cracking your skull on the roof whenever you climb in and out of a vehicle. Okay, feeling like a pretzel is worse. The seats have a 40/20/40 configuration which means they can be split and fold down to increase the cargo space. The cargo space isn’t the Grand Canyon, but it can hold quite a bit and with both passenger seats folded down, you get 85 cubic feet that can also be reached by the tailgate. There is no third row seat and Toyota’s other popular SUV, the Highlander, is the same way. Many of the competitor’s vehicles offer an optional third row seat that can be folded down to make cargo space.
The front seats are powered and can move in ten different directions. There are dual climate controls, steering wheel controls, and a six-CD changer with an eight speaker radio system. The second row seats slide and recline. Additional ala carte options include power-tilt steering, sunroof, driver seat memory, leather upholstery, back-up camera, navigations, audio package and rear-seat DVD. Just think how quiet the children will be on that long trip or how nice it will be to shuffle the CDs without having to fumble for the case.

Lexus GS 450h Hybrid Exterior and Interior Overview

We all know how gas mileage has increased the demand for hybrids, one of them being the Lexus GS 450h Hybrid. This hybrid sedan has a style to it that accentuates the advanced and eco-friendly future that Lexus has seen, without sacrificing the quality language of the brand. In simply looking at the exterior, the GS 450h is a much more elongated and stretched vehicle in design with a long, sleek hood and a lower setting to the ground. The rear deck of the vehicle is shorter than other Lexus sedans and there is a more set-back greenhouse capacity.
The lines are clean and fluid, giving the vehicle a very sleek yet simple sensation. There is a sense of class quite clearly evident when looking at the aesthetic of the car’s design, but Lexus doesn’t ignore functionality. While maintaining the luxurious style Lexus is known for, the hybrid still manages to reflect its practicality and usability.
Like many other hybrid cars on the market, the GS 450h is built to be aerodynamic and utilizes engineering to create a body that can fend off wind resistance. The car’s drag coefficient is substantially reduced, giving the vehicle a much smoother drive, without havin to deal wit the effect of air pressure. This isn’t just an exterior feature either – the lessening of air resistance translates to a quiet ride.
In looking at the exterior, aside from body, there are several features to take note of, one being the unique high-density-discharge headlights. These lights can more than compensate for what are standard headlights. The wipers on the GS 450h actually sense the rain and activate, which is a must-see and the mirrors have heat elements to reduce fogging and are power-adjustable. The 18-inch wheels are stylish and functional, and the grill and front fascia are gorgeous. Also, LCDs in the vehicle work as rear brake lights while the turn signals are integrated into the mirrors.
Interior
Given that the GS 450h hybrid sedan is a luxury-class vehicle, you would expect nothing less than a plush, comfortable interior. That is exactly what you get with the GS 450h. The leather interior is soft, smooth and comforting, and the stainless steel scuff plates aren’t overly prominent. These and a great collection of accessories that are advanced and stylish make this vehicle truly one of the top luxury cars on the market, hybrid or conventional.
To be expected, the driver’s seat feels incredibly comfortable and is set higher to enable increased visibility and to relieve painful strain from lowered seats. The seat is a 10-way power adjustable bolstered driver’s seat with heating capabilities. The steering wheel is telescopic and tilting, and the interior also has fine wood trimming with an exquisite dashboard. The dashboard also has wood trim and is home to the instrumentation panels with multiple controls and buttons that are centralized and sensitive for the driver’s comfort and convenience.
One of the best features of the Lexus line is the center console located right above the audio system, which holds a 7-inch electronic screen. The screen allows the navigation system, backup camera and dual climate control are operated and viewed. Convenient, at your fingertips and safer, the only feature that could make this better is the voice recognition software that is available. With that, the only thing is do is sit back and drive as the features make for a hands-free ride.
As with any vehicle, the safety of yourself and your passengers is permanent and Lexus doesn’t go lean on safety. With 10 different airbags in the vehicle, all placed in specific locations to maximize efficiency and provide a safe environment. With dual-front airbags on both front as well as rear seats, there are also several side airbags designed to prevent fatalities in any given situation.
If space is a concern for you, don’t let it be. The seats are incredibly roomy, and the rear passenger seat can easily fit three passengers. While the center seat would be elevated from the center cushion hiding the battery pack, rest assured that there is still plenty of shoulder or leg room.
If there is anything to criticize about this luxury sedan, it would be the trunk space. Due to the battery pack’s location at the rear of the vehicle, the trunk is only 7.5 feet, which is smaller than conventional sedans.
