CAD was formed for greater effectiveness in securing and promoting the best interests of the deaf in the state of Connecticut; for mutual and legal assistance and encouragement in bettering their intellectual, industrial, and social condition and for the enjoyment of socialization through a biennial conference and other activities such as workshops. The elected board of directors are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, ByLaws Chair, and five (5) member-at-large representatives. The delegate and alternate delegate as appointed by the Board of Directors attend the National Association of the Deaf conference every two even years and Region I Conference every other two odd years. The standing committees who are appointed by the Board of Directors are Education (C.L.E.R.C.), Legislation, Membership, Publicity, Auditors, Deaf Awareness Week, Miss Deaf Connecticut Pageant and others like entertainment, fundraising, or any purpose. The Mission of the CAD is to serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community addressing needs in the areas of advocacy, education and employment opportunities, communication and access, technical advancement, civil rights, and empowerment. CAD, as a civic organization, includes the opportunity for interaction and well-being through various activities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing citizens of Connecticut.
